Hello, It’s nice to meet you.

My name is Sophia Borchers and I’m a multidisciplinary graphic designer who centres storytelling and layered narratives in each of my projects.

My philosophy for my design practice, funnily enough, aligns with the definition of my name, Sophia. I tend to begin by looking closely—through observation and research—to understand what is already there, but not always immediately visible. From there, I “illuminate” these stories by translating my insights into considered visual systems that communicate messages in a clear and impactful way.

Having been born in Germany and shaped by living across different places throughout my life, I’ve developed a sensitivity to context, culture, and the small details that give them meaning. This perspective carries through my work, where I’m interested in creating pieces that preserve fragments of stories unique to each place.

For me, boldness is not about being loud, but about giving presence to what might otherwise be overlooked. Through thoughtful and expressive design, I aim to illuminate these narratives and invite people to look a little closer.
